Jesus leaves from one side of the lake to the other. After teaching to people, he moves to other side. Most of the time when Jesus withdraws from people, he goes into solitude to pray. Jesus’ teaching is a revelation of his prayer, that is his conversion with God. His teaching is more authoritative because his words are fruit of his prayers.
When Jesus was in the boat, He slept, showing His humanity and tiredness. As human beings, we too can become exhausted in our life, despite believing in God. In such moments, we need to awaken ourselves, realizing that our faith is in God, not in ourselves. Awakening ourselves means calling upon God, who is always at our disposal.
The disciples' primary lack was confidence. When we don't have self-confidence rooted in our faith, we fail to rise after falling. The disciples lacked confidence in Jesus' presence with them, which shook their fundamental faith, prompting Jesus to ask, "Do you still not have faith?"
Jesus demonstrated control over the wind and storms of life, revealing His divine nature. As a supernatural Being, Jesus commanded the natural elements of water and wind. When we transcend our human nature and grow in our supernatural traits, we too can gain control over life's challenges.
True faith calms down, but it never controls. We think that since we have faith in God, we can control everything. Our faith should help us calm down our life storms. Calming down is removal of fear; control is hiding of fear. Jesus removes the fear and brings peace.
